| The Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 1 every December proudly sponsor's our local FOP Christmas with a Cop event. This event locates children in the Tucson community who are currently in the greatest need this time of year. Our children, ages 6-12, are selected after being nominated by school teachers, counselors or by Police Officer's who have direct knowledge of their difficult circumstances.
Many times these children have been abandoned from their parents and are being raised by Grandparents or social service agencies. They may have had a parent that recently passed away, a parent that is incarcerated in prison or at the county jail, or are being raised by a single parent whose financial circumstances who's cannot afford anything for Christmas this year.
FOP Christmas with a Cop is a unique opportunity that allows local, state and federal law enforcement to assist children in a way far different than any other. It is a win-win situation in helping make for a better future for both these children and our community. We value our most precious national resource in every child's future. In this event we escort these children in finding that new jacket, new winter clothing, a new pair of shoes and that special toy that had only been a dream all year long.
