Clark, a Special Agent with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), who has been unjustly charged for actions he took in defense of his life and that of another citizen in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

2010 National Law Enforcement Officers’ Memorial Service in Washington D.C.

During National Police Week, thousands of law enforcement officers in region of the nation gather at memorial services to honor their fallen colleagues.  In addition, more than 25,000 officers, as well as the surviving family members and friends of slain officers, traveled to the nation’s capital to attend the 29th Annual National Peace Officers’ Memorial Service, which is the nation’s largest and most prominent memorial service held on behalf of fallen law enforcement officers.

Mumia Abu-Jamal Loses at the Supreme Court... Again 01/20/2010 

Chuck Canterbury, National President of the Fraternal Order of Police, applauded the Supreme Court of the United States for its decision in Beard v. Abu-Jamal, which reversed the ruling of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit in Philadelphia to grant Wesley Cook, better known by his alias Mumia Abu-Jamal, a new sentencing hearing for the murder of Philadelphia Police Officer Daniel Faulkner.

As I’m sure you are aware the City of Tucson is in the throes of a budget crisis and has directed that cuts be made in every department.  On 12/28/09 the City Manager unveiled his plan for shoring up the City’s finances.  The cuts recommended by the City Manager as they pertain to the Tucson Police Department are as follows:

Bullhead City was ordered to reinstate Sgt. Raul Garzon to his former rank and pay, as well as his back pay and benefits, following a ruling by hearing officer Harold Merkow.

Sgt. James Crowley, the Massachusetts officer who arrested Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates spoke at the National Fraternal Order of Police convention in Long Beach where he was greeted with applause.

"My sole purpose for coming here is to reach out and sincerely thank you," said Crowley.

"The past month has been very difficult for my family, my friends and my colleagues back in Cambridge, and it’s no exaggeration to say that it wouldn’t be as easy for me to handle this without the support from the Fraternal Order of Police ... and the support that the men and women who do this job have given me," Crowley said. "Thank you very much."
